- Instructions for EXTAKEY(c)
-
- EXTAKEY(c) is a desk accessory that allows you to create a
- string of characters using all of the available Atari character
- set, and insert the string into your GEM based word processing
- document as though it had been typed from the keyboard. Its
- utility is not limited to word processing programs, any GEM based
- program that allows access to desk accessories and expects
- keyboard input could use EXTAKEY(c).
-
- The Atari ST keyboard is not capable of sending key codes
- greater than 127, therefore eliminating the use of IBM graphic
- characters and other special text features directly from the
- keyboard. With EXTAKEY(c), you can use all 256 of the characters
- available. Primary uses would be math and Greek symbols for
- equations, foreign characters, and graphic characters.
-
- Of course, the special characters will be of little use if
- your printer cannot print them. Since there are so many different
- types of printers in use, no single method of setting up a printer
- to print these characters would be applicable. It is left up to
- the user to find a way of doing this. As a start, if your printer
- can support the IBM graphics character set you can print all but 4
- of the non-graphic characters Atari uses ( ascii codes 158, 236,
- 254, and 255).
- This program is not for sale, but may be copied and
- distributed freely as long as neither the program nor the resource
- file are modified.
